Your Right to Vote is in Danger
The SAVE Act would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote, and the Senate is considering it right now.
The SAVE Act would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. While supporters say it’s needed for election integrity, the reality is that this will add barriers for eligible voters, especially people who don’t have quick access to citizenship documents (some estimates put this around tens of millions, including roughly ~21 million voting-age citizens).
While the bill allows several forms of proof (not only passports or birth certificates), many common IDs won’t qualify on their own unless they show citizenship-related information such as place of birth or are paired with additional documents.
As non-citizens are already barred from voting in federal elections, this bill does nothing besides make it harder for eligible Americans to participate. Our communities already face obstacles in the political process. We cannot allow new ones to be added. Tell your Senators to oppose the SAVE Act. Protect the right to vote.
