Standard_Form_Press_Credentials_-_Minneapolis_Civil_Unrest

The yellow press credential is the standard form credential the Twin Cities media community used while covering civil unrest in Minneapolis. It was developed before the Derek Chauvin trial in 2021, after several incidents where reporters were assaulted by police and arrested in 2020. The press credential was controversial because its development involved coordination between corporate and established media and law enforcement officials, to the exclusion of some smaller organizations and independent press. Law enforcement was trained to look for the yellow press credential specifically, but not exclusively.
