WASHINGTON, D.C. – Emgage Action joins the country in mourning the victims of the mass shooting at a mall in Allen, Texas on Saturday, May 6, 2023. At least eight were killed and at least seven were injured, according to the police. Children were among those killed.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have now been over 200 mass shootings in 2023. This was the second-deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. this year.
“It is absolutely appalling that we are once again in such a moment of national mourning and fear because of the rampant mass shootings that are taking place across the country,” said Wa’el Alzayat, Emgage Action CEO. “At what point are our elected officials going to take concrete steps towards common sense gun laws? How many more innocent people will die before action is taken?”
Emgage Action sends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims and will continue monitoring this situation as it progresses.
