Emgage Action congratulates Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff on their victories in the Georgia Senate run-off races. Emgage Action and other Muslim organizations conducted “Get Out the Vote” operations in the state to ensure that Muslim voices were represented in these elections. For the past month, Emgage Action provided critical data to organizers to connect with voters, including via personalized post cards encouraging them to vote. Emgage Action also held a rally with elected officials, including State Senator Sharif Street, State Senator Sheikh Rahman, and Councilman Basheer Jones, in an effort to ‘flip the Senate.’
“Muslim Americans played an important role in Joe Biden’s victory, and today, we worked to flip the Senate. Black Muslim Americans were particularly crucial to these wins. With Democratic control of both the House and Senate, Emgage Action will be expecting movement on stalled-legislation, especially the No Ban Act, as well as immigration and criminal justice reform.” -Wa’el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage
Emgage Action is a Muslim civic advocacy organization, with national headquarters in Washington, D.C., and state chapters in Michigan, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New York.
