Washington, D.C.- With the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, national Muslim organization, Emgage Action, released a statement on the failure to include a Muslim speaker within the program lineup.
“Joe Biden’s presence address to millions of Muslim Americans across the country at our summit was unprecedented, and represented a positive step in the Democratic party’s engagement with Muslim Americans. However, we are deeply disappointed in the Democratic National Convention’s failure to include a single Muslim speaker in the lineup this year, representing a step back from previous years. Democrats cannot claim to care about abolishing the Muslim Ban or ending profiling against members of our community if our voices are not included at the DNC. We respectfully request that the DNC ensures that the speaker lineup reflects the diversity of the part and include Muslim Americans.” – Wa’el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage Action
